Career highlights include appearances at the Salzburg Festival in Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 under Harnoncourt; at the Edinburgh International Festival in Handel’s Israel in Egypt under Haim; and Galuppi’s L’Olimpiade at Teatro La Fenice. Of Anglo-Venetian parentage, Mark has a particular affinity with Italian music; and his recitals and lectures of 17th Century Italian music with Paula Chateauneuf (theorbo) have been well-received by critics and academics alike. Above all, his performances in the title role in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo have brought international recognition and engagements across the globe. He has performed all three of Monteverdi’s surviving operas, including performances with De Nederlandse Opera in Pierre Audi’s acclaimed production of L’Orfeo, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, and L’incoronazione di Poppea. </span></span></div></div>bjornrosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00775654650781474830noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3181365932375836456.post-86037868958081155452009-07-07T14:21:00.003+02:002009-07-07T14:30:22.265+02:00NEW PERSPECTIVES ON POPPEA<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj408jvEnUYXbjCv6ZapNe1Jt_eSA4ExjMfPUOGpKC0T6e_utOHy5HNfVgsACvlXtIIs_330ahv0I03Ftf417Ykovi8xOIF7KEd0m_UDFtNlGYTZHhy2m6rUCtOE8rv-7qgaUbMjbOIIAce/s1600-h/9780520249349.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 139px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj408jvEnUYXbjCv6ZapNe1Jt_eSA4ExjMfPUOGpKC0T6e_utOHy5HNfVgsACvlXtIIs_330ahv0I03Ftf417Ykovi8xOIF7KEd0m_UDFtNlGYTZHhy2m6rUCtOE8rv-7qgaUbMjbOIIAce/s200/9780520249349.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355694154200424882" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 3px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 3px; font-family:Times;font-size:medium;"><div align="center"><div align="center"><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Times, -webkit-fantasy;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Georgia, fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="-webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; font-weight: normal; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></span></b></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia, fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Times;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">International</span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> </span><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">CONFERENCE</span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"> in </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia, -webkit-fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Stockholm </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Times, -webkit-fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">on Monteverdi's last opera</span></span></span></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Times, -webkit-fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div><span><div style="text-align: left; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia, fantasy;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">KUNGL.
